Wow. what an interview.? That’s how you can improve your approach of seo by learning form other’s experience. And avoiding the common seo mistakes that other people are making. Similarly, I read a blog on Cloudways highlighting the same issue, you can also read that blog by browsing it on cloudways.

  2. Lean says:

Thanks to Rand, Andrew and Tess.

Just a question, which is better – yellow.net or yellowkitchendesign.com? I know .com is the king but if you can’t get the 1 word .com, will the.net be better than the long .com in all terms(branding, seo etc)?

    Great interview Tess.
    Real insightful information.
I have always believed that any domain name is your store location.
Everything else is secondary, including being found by Google and other search engines.
If you advertise a great product, then tell them to find it on an easy to remember domain, you will get the traffic.
But to rely on search engines is just something that you should not do, and if it comes, it is a great bonus.

  6. Michael Cyger says:

“When we bought Moz.com — we switched from SEOMoz to Moz — we changed our brand name and that was I think a half a million dollars, maybe a little bit more than that for that domain. Which I think was a steal…” -Rand Fishkin, Founder of http://Moz.com (1:10:23 of the interview)
