Web Host Flexihost Launches Nz Domain Lookup and Registration App
August 31, 2011 @ 4:40 AMNew Zealand web hosting provider FlexiHost (www.flexihost.co.nz) announced on Tuesday that it has launched a domain lookup and registration mobile app for iPhone users. According to a vague blog post on FlexiHost’s website, the app is its first iPhone application. There is another free app that offers .nz domain lookup, TLD Lookup by VersaEdge Software, but it doesn’t allow a user to register for the domain from within the app.

Domain Names Still a Big Business for Network Solutions
August 29, 2011 @ 11:24 AMWhen Jacksonville-based Web.com filed its proxy statement for the deal last week, it showed that domain name services still is a big business. In fact, Network Solutions is generating more revenue from the domain business than Web.com is generating with all of its services. The proxy filed by Web.com shows that Network Solutions generated $88.9 million in revenue in the first half of this year from domain name services, two-thirds of its total revenue of $133.5 million. Web.com’s total revenue was $81.7 million.

Cybersquatters Snap Up GOP Domain Names
August 29, 2011 @ 1:12 AMThe domain names of U.S. Republican presidential hopefuls Romney-Perry2012.com and Perry-Romney2012.com are available for $50,000 each, the names’ owner says. While the eventual GOP nominee is far from certain and chances are less than 50-50 that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry would be on the same ticket, the auction for the rights to the names shows the presidential race is heating up, The Hill reported.

Resmer originally filed suit against Oversee in U.S. District Court Central District of California.

Go Daddy Files Patents for Domain Appraisals and Domain Spinning

The applications list Paul Nicks, who is Director of Product Development for GoDaddy’s auction service, as inventor. They were filed in February 2010 and just published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office today.

Amazon Continues Domain Name Collecting With Kindlewave.com
August 24, 2011 @ 4:39 AMJust a couple of days ago, the folks at Amazon took it upon themselves to scoop up the domain name KindleScribe.com – this of course fueling speculation that the upcoming Kindle e-reader would at last be named. This and KindleScribes.com were registered on August 20 2011, and along with their last registration of a domain, KindleAir.com, all point toward a future tablet name OR some defensively purchased names just in case someone wanted to capitalize on the fact that Air, Scribe, and Wave are associated very closely at the moment with tablet computers.
