ICANN's Promises Aren't Simply Speculation, They're Outright Fantasy
September 4, 2011 @ 6:02 AMAs chairman of the Association of National Advertisers, I read Alexa Raad’s Aug. 16 and Edmund Lee’s Aug. 22 pieces in Ad Age with great interest, hoping to understand why adding new TLDs (Top Level Domain names) would be an opportunity for brands and would create a better internet experience for our consumers. Unfortunately, I was not persuaded.

More Than 215 Million Domain Names Registered World Wide
August 31, 2011 @ 4:08 PMVerisign has released their latest issue of their quarterly Domain Industry Brief (PDF) today. The second quarter of 2011 closed with a base of more than 215 million domain name registrations across all Top Level Domains (TLDs), an increase of 5.2 million domain names, or 2.5 percent over the first quarter. registrations have grown by more than 16.9 million, or 8.6 percent, since the second quarter of 2010.The base of Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLDs) was 84.6 million domain names, a 3.6 percent increase quarter over quarter, and an 8.4 percent increase year over year in the base.

Verisign: 5.2 Million More Domain Names

VeriSign released its quarterly Domain Name Industry Brief today, reporting that the total base of domain names increased by 5.2 million last quarter to 215 million. Registrations have grown by more than 16.9 million since the second quarter of 2010.
