November 14, 2011 @ 10:34 PMMonths of marketing campaigns, changing the name of its sporting coliseum in Oakland, and actively pushing its O.co domain as a shortcut to Overstock.com isn’t working as well as the e-tailer would like. There are way too many people that confuse O.co with O.com — which hasn’t been made available, even to Oprah Winfrey — and it’s also not easy to rebrand a company.

IANA Contract Is up for Renewal, Only to U.S. Bidders
November 14, 2011 @ 12:10 AMThe Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) is aiming to strengthen requirements for transparency, independence and accountability in its next contract for the creation of top-level domains. The contract, currently held by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), awards powers to create new top-level domains (such as dot.museum or dot.movie) and is due to expire in March 2012.
