New gTLD Program Committee Tells ICANN Not to Contract With Apps for Strings With Gac Safeguard Advice
July 3, 2013 @ 9:10 PMIn a resolution tonight, the New gTLD Program Committee (NGPC) told ICANN to “defer moving forward with the contracting process for applicants who have applied for TLD strings listed in the GAC‘s Category 1 Safeguard Advice, pending a dialogue with the GAC”. Allstate Withdraws 2 New gTLD Applications

Allstate Insurance withdrew .carinsurance and .Autoinsurance. Both were to be operated as closed generic gTLD’s “opened only to restricted to AFCIC and its qualified subsidiaries, affiliates, business partners or others having the Required Agreement. The registry will be closed to registrants who do not have a formal, written agreement from AFCIC or an affiliate of AFCIC, specifically allowing the registration of a second-level domain names”… -
