DomainSherpa Review with Michael Cyger, Adam Dicker, Michael Berkens, Rick Schwartz and Page HoweWe’re joined by four Domain Sherpas: Adam Dicker, Mike Berkens, Page Howe and Rick Schwartz

This is the show where we get into the minds of successful domain name investors – people we call Sherpas – and talk about the value of specific domain names. By listening to the Sherpas, we expand our thought process so we can become more successful investors ourselves.

In this Review and After Show:

  • 80+ health and beauty domain names for review
  • A small portfolio from a newer investor in retirement
  • 15 NameJet domains you can get still bid on, like and
  • Adam Dicker’s six-figure sale of
  • The economy, it’s improvement, and how it will affect the domain name industry
  • Donuts Domains Protected Marks List (DPML)
  • Donuts pre-registrations going live today
  • And much more!

For two portfolios and a great list from, the Sherpas answer:

  • Which domains are valuable, and in what way?
  • What is the market value (both wholesale and retail) of the best domain names?
  • Which domains are worthless and should be dropped?
  • Which domain names may invite legal issues, such as a UDRP case or cybersquatting lawsuit?
  • Which domains do our Sherpas want to make an offer on?

  1. Mod says:

Hi, I was wondering if you could ask about the bitcoin domains, what kind of value they carry?

Also if variations like bcoin or bitc would have value.

    Thanks, Mod.

    1. Louise says:

Hi, For what it is worth, inspired by MIchael Berkens’ post about his bitcoin, I researched the past sales of, “coin,” domains, and wrote an article here: Looks like the good ones are taken, and companies have already set up their branding.

    Hi Michael;

Never miss Domain Sherpa Interviews or Reviews. The reviews with all these highly
successful Sherpa’s is equal to a masters degree in domaining. By far, this is the best
show for us know it all’s who know very little. Thank you and Adam, Mike, Paige and Rick
for a fantastic, ongoing domaining education. What a great, great program.

    Much appreciated,

    Paul Goulart

  3. Eric Jenkins says:

I think the list is only going to get longer as more people find out that you are doing this type of review.

It’s a tough call because everyone would like to have a comment about their domain but that would take a lot of time.

So maybe you could have one of the Sherpas go through the entire list quickly and after that the Sherpas can comment on the domains that they think are the best.

    Thank you,
    Eric Jenkins

  4. Adam says:

Great show as always and the most useful weekly show on the internet.

If you are looking to get into investing in domain names in retirement I don’t think you can just do that. You need to build out websites that generate revenue. Every person on this show has several websites or is working on building web properties.

  5. Francisco says:

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for selecting my domain ‘Salud.LA’ for the show on Health domains. I also want to thank Page for clarifying that Salud means health in Spanish. I have picked up from the show that most of the Sherpas probably don’t deal with domains in other languages. That may apply to estibot too which gave Salud a value of $0 despite it being a very popular word in Spanish. (Interesting enought Sedo’s suggested price is $3K.)

Maybe on a future show the Sherpas can provide some insight on how to best value domains in another language..

Thanks again for providing your service – I’ve enjoyed watching the weekly videos. I’ve learned a lot and I am putting the information to good use.

    1. Hi Francisco,

Watch next week’s After Show. I’m going to ask about the cyrillic domain, as well as the Spanish domains.

    2. Jose says:

      Hi Francisco,

In this case,Estibot’s valuation is pretty accurate.Salud is a very strong keyword in spanish but that Keyword+ LA extension= $0.
These are the names with value: (15-30k) (Definitely a six figure name).

*I’m spanish and I follow quite closely the spanish market.

  6. Eric Jenkins says:

Another great, great show. The Sherpas have so much insight. Just another outstanding show.

Would you please ask Mr. Berkens what players jersey that is on the wall behind him?

    Thank You,
    Eric Jenkins

    1. I was just thinking about that last week too! I’ll ask in next week’s After Show. Thanks for the idea, Eric.

      1. Eric Jenkins says:

I am gonna take a wild guess as to whom the jersey might belong to. The jersey appears to be silver and black with the number 12 on it. So I a going to guess that the jersey belongs to Kenny Stabler.

        Thank You,
        Eric Jenkins

  7. Louise says:

Hi, Thanx for feedback on my domain, Thanx for positive energy, @ Rick Schwartz, and friendly criticism, @ Michael Berkens. It’s a low sodium domain in my portfolio, so, I’ll keep it. I have, Low Salt dot tv, since you like low salt, and that is the one I am branding on. Thank you!

Thanx for bringing together top minds in domaining in this fun forum.

    1. Thanks for commenting, Louise.

  8. Mike Katz says:

    Great show. Thanks.
How about a review of just .me domains?

    1. Great idea. I’ll add it as a theme to my list. Thanks for commenting.

  9. John Harrison says:

Thank you very much Sherpas! My domain was Mike Berkens mentioned there may be too many other variables of such a long domain but I have 3 others that go a long way to covering a natural way of searching for the information. I remember Adam mentioning that when you have a collective of domains that you should try to sell each one to a separate company rather then as a collective to one company.

I’m personally interested in this niche as I can only imagine that the marketing of foods to kids will go more and more health centric. I’m taking the Rick Schwartz hold fast position on these names!

Thank you for taking the time to evaluate and discuss.

Thank you Michael for making it happen!

    1. Thanks for submitting, watching and commenting. I appreciate it, John.

  10. Fantastic show as always and thanks for including my domain

Michael, can you ask Sherpas go through the list instead of asking just 5 favorite names? That way we can get feedback on more names. In the past episodes, I liked it when Adam went through the list one by one and gave his feedback.

Adam mentioned that he would like to build out So I would recommend looking at just to get some ideas :-)

    1. Hi Rahul,

That’s a tough ask. There were 80 domain names in the list. If each Sherpa spent just 15 seconds on each domain name, that would be 20 minutes per Sherpa…or an hour and 20 minutes, just reviewing the first list. If I let one of the Sherpas go through the list, that still a big time commitment.

I guess I’d like to hear from more of the audience. What do you think? Would you like one Sherpa to review every domain name individually and then only have the others discuss differences of opinion?

Or just select the top 10 domains, the 10 domains that should be dropped and assume everything else has value and should not be dropped?

I’m open. I’d love to hear more input.

      1. Kassey says:

Hi Mike, I prefer a smaller list so that you can spend enough time on each name.

        1. Thanks for your input, Kassey.

  11. Great show as usual. If what happens in Traffic stays in Traffic, then i think i know what Adam was talking about. Pretty great. Kudos.

  12. Kassey says:

Would the Sherpas be interested in discussing the issue of being charged $50 by Godaddy if someone files a UDRP against your domain? I read it recently that Godaddy and many other registrars have this practice. When do you get charged the $50? As soon as you get sent a UDRP notice? Do you get any refund if you win the UDRP? Any other relevant info would be appreciated.

    1. Great questions, Kassey. I’ll ask next week.

  13. Another great show.I am always learning. Thanks Sherpas

    1. Great to hear, Kevin. Thanks for commenting. We appreciate it.

  14. albert says:

    Love the show.
Can I submit (for the last time) another list Mike?
If you say no, I understand.

    1. Of course you can, anytime. I just can guarantee when we’ll get to it. Use the “Review” menu, Submit link above.

  15. Kassey says:

Thanks Mike. I’m enjoying the program now.

    1. Thanks, Kassey. Great to hear!

  16. Kassey says:

Like the download button, bven the audio streaming bar gives me the same old interview too. Strange…

    1. Fixed. User/publisher error. :(

Try it again and let me know if it works. Thanks for pointing it out, Kassey. Much appreciated.

  17. Kassey says:

Mike, the file available for download is an old one (Review-Total-20131205.mp3). Can you check?

    1. Hi Kassey,

If you click the download link, it should save this filename: “Review-Total-20131211.mp3”

I verified that this filename is correct for this week’s show (didn’t save last week’s show on this filename, for instance).

      Please confirm.

      1. Kassey says:

I just checked again. When I place the pointer on the DOWNLOAD MP3 button, it still shows “Review-Total-20131205.mp3” and if I click the button, my download manager also shows the same file name. Am I the only one experiencing this issue?

        1. My bad. Please try it again and let me know if it works. Thanks for pointing it out, Kassey.

  18. Kevin Patton says:

Thanks guys for another great show, your time and effort are very much appreciated. Also thanks to Mike Berkens for his kinds words about my domain name I have it listed on godaddy auctions, do you have any other suggestions where I may try to sell it.

Also, Mike Cyger, can you give a couple examples domain names for next weeks submissions about Advertising, Branding, and Marketing. Again, thanks to Mike and all the Sherpas!

    1. You bet. Just off the top of my head, made up, didn’t verify if registered or not:

Names like that. Make more sense now?

      1. Kevin Patton says:

        Yes, thanks a bunch.

  19. Samit says:

I saw the after show twice.

And the simple take away from it, for me, was that far from reducing values of existing domains, new gtlds might actually work towards driving the base price of existing good to great keywords through the roof what with 12k registrations and premium renewals.

    Did I get that right?

    1. Yes, Samit. It might. Only time will tell.

  20. stan says:

Great show guys. Michael I especially appreciate you asking Rick for more details regarding whether he would market a domain concept to companies or wait for companies to come to him. I would love more discussion about marketing strategies and tactics for specific domains on the show.

Adam says that domains become much more valuable once they are developed and it’s easy to understand how that could be true. My question is whether a domain becomes “instantly” more valuable once a high quality site is built on it or does the site need to have real traffic and / or revenue to increase the value of the domain. For example, if I build a great-looking website on my domain tonight (assuming that the new site is attractive with good content and good SEO), will my domain likely be worth significantly more tomorrow or will it need time to generate traffic, a community or revenue before it becomes worth more money?

I guess my question is whether you guys think a brand new website alone adds immediate value to a domain or if an increase in value comes only after the website has revenue and traffic to prove its value. I’d appreciate any thoughts or feedback about this.

Note – Please assume that we are talking about domains that make sense, have a nice ring to them and are easy to remember in the $xxx – $x,xxx range.

  21. Tom says:

I should have submitted my other domain bc mine wasn’t even mentioned haha.

    What do you think of

  22. Dan says:

    Hi Guy’s

Thanx for the review, Always great to hear the panels thoughts and insights and I don’t miss a show.

my domain was The reason for buying it was… every cosmetic / beauty product, offer a free/cheap trial of there products, my thougtht was to build out a site that contains all these free offers from skin/hair/makeup/teehtwhitening etc.

    1. I think that’s a great business idea, Dan.

Remember, the Sherpas are spending a hour or so (maybe more or less) prepping across all the portfolios, and it’s hard to think of every business idea that could make the domain name a winner. So take their feedback in that light.

I now see what you’re proposing, and I think if executed well it could be one of those sites that goes viral on Facebook and Pinterest. Good luck!

      1. Thanx Michael

I was in no way commenting on lack of talking about my domain, I appreciate it being included on the list. There were lots of great names on the list, I just thought I would put my reason for registering the name incase someone had some input/advice for me! (Newbie)

  23. jay says:

Thanks Mike and Sherpas for another great show. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy
    New Year.

    1. Thanks for watching and commenting, Jay. :)

  24. DomainSherpa always have the best reviews.. i love hearing how the top pros see things. Thanks

    1. Much appreciated, Excitemental. Thanks for taking a moment to thank the Sherpas.

  25. Marcelo says:

Hey guys I submitted but nobody mentioned anything positive nor negative about the domain. I have owned the domain for about a year and been offered 500$ recently.
4,400 searches, High competition, 1.51 cpc. Any valuations or input would be highly appreciated. Thank you

    1. Page Howe says:

Hi Marcelo, I liked the name and it was on my “better” list. I know with such a big list this week we didn’t go thru every name, we may if we go back to the old format change. Thanks for your submission and I hope you’re able to receive and accept a higher offer. Depending on whether your trying to generate cash, or keep for the big sale, best thing to do right now is find another name of similar quality (may take a month) so it will be easier to let this one go. Page

    2. Hi Marcel,

I just ran the domain,, in Estibot and saw zero value. So I ran it in the Google Adwords Keyword Planner as the words, “Pure Argan Oil” and saw exactly what you stated. Upon examination, Estibot was parsing the words incorrectly until I set it to “Pure Argan Oil” manually. It goes to show that Estibot is a great way to quickly evaluate a ton of information about a domain name, yet sometimes you need to double check it.

I like the name too. If you hand registered it, then a $500 offer is very good. It all depends on whether your strategy for investing is more on the “flipping” side (turn a quick profit on a lot of domain names) or on the “hold” side (like Rick Schwartz).

      Best of luck,

      1. RK says:

Hi there Micheal, I noticed absolutely nothing was mentioned with regards to the name СвадебныеПрически.com which was on the 1st list. It stands out like sore thumb and yet nothing was said. I would be extremely interested in what the Sherpas have to say about it or any other idn for that matter.

        Best Regards,

        1. The cyrillic domain, as well as the Spanish domains, were on my list of questions to ask the Sherpas. I either felt like we didn’t have enough time to ask them or I lost track of questions, I can’t remember. Either way it’s a great question that I want to know the answer to, so I’ll ask in the After Show next week. Stay tuned.

      2. Marcelo says:

Hello Page and thanks for your advice. Michael I would like to say thank you for including my domain in your show. Relatively new to domaining so it was a pleasant surprise. I had purchased the domain for around 250$ for my girlfriend who was at the time going to start an argan oil website. I quite like the name and find I get strangely attached to domains :P so I will hold out for 2k. I hope this isn’t a far stretch and I am willing to wait if this is a realistic amount to eventually get for it.

        Thanks again,

  26. Stay tuned.

  27. RK says:

Thank you Michael for the quick reply. Ill definately be watching next weeks show to hear what the Sherpas have to say.

On a seperate note, I think its great what you are doing so keep it up. Big thank you.

  28. Loved your review. You’re hired! :)
