After a couple of years of buying, holding and renewing “pigeon shit” domain names, Warrick Mulder realized there was a better way. So he dropped all of the .com, .net and .org domain names that didn’t earn any parking revenue or solicit any purchase offers and instead turned his attention to the top-level domain of his home country of South Africa: .co.za. As a result, his monthly parking revenue increased from $100 to $2,000+ per month, he was able to reduce his domain registration fees from $7 to about $4.50 per domain, and his domain names sell for an average of $X.

Michael Cyger August 6, 2012 10 What are the best domain names to buy for parking, how can you maximize your return on investment when buying such names, and what is an appropriate return on investment for parking? These are but three of the questions answered in this week’s show with Michael Gilmour. An entrepreneur and investor, Gilmour started his domain name business by placing a big bet: his last $100 on a single domain name that he immediately parked. Learn how Gilmour parlayed his earnings from that single domain into a portfolio that at its peak generated thousands of dollars a day in parking revenue.
Michael Cyger January 23, 2012 37 Page Howe did not start domaining in the mid-1990s like so many other mega-domainers who have sold domain names for millions. Instead, he started just when the market was crashing in 2001 by buying the assets of a dot-com burnout through eBay for $105,000. He later sold those assets for $1.8 million. As a regular “Joe Domainer” – in fact, he named his domain name marketplace JoeDomains.com – Howe uses a very structured approach to successfully buy and sell domain names in the under $5,000 range. The entire interview is packed full of great tips, so be sure to grab a pen and pad of paper before watching this show.
Michael Cyger October 25, 2011 16 Last week, the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Domain Conference & Expo took place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Top domain investors from around the world converged at the Ritz Carlton for five days of networking, sharing, learning, partying and dealmaking. Here are five lessons learned that you can use to grow your business that I gleaned from this conference. If you attended the conference and learned a lesson or two that is not covered here, please let us know about it in the comments.
Michael Cyger October 23, 2011 23 It’s easy to see how a domainer who early on registered short, generic domain names could be sitting on a business making millions per year. It’s also easy to see how someone could make millions with domain names purchased after the dot-com crash of 2000. But how does someone build a multi-million dollar domaining business today? Justin Godfrey knows how.
Michael Cyger April 5, 2011 29 In addition to owning what is now a portfolio of more than 5,000 — including 2,000 .us — domain names, Ron Jackson publishes the industry’s leading trade magazine, DN Journal. The online publication is a greater source of income for Ron than his domain name sales. Surprised? Watch this interview for many more insights you did not know about Ron and about domaining.
