As we say on DomainSherpa – all roads lead to domains. And in the reverse, domains lead us “down the rabbit hole” for different topics all the time. This show, typically hosted by JT, Drew & Yoni, is where we discuss a wide variety of subjects – with plenty of talk about domains, crypto, NFTs, and digital assets – along with a bunch of other stuff as well.
In this episode, JT & Drew are joined by Pedro de Noronha of Noster Capital as they discuss the investability of domain names from the perspective of an institutional investor. Pedro brings a handful of questions to pressure test our thesis of domains as digital real estate, what are some advantages and disadvantages to domains as an investment, what else is needed to make domains appealing to institutions and funds, and more. If you’re a domain investor, big or small, you should be sure not to miss this insightful episode!

Pedro de Noronha began his career in 2000 as an M&A analyst at Merrill Lynch in the London office. Following his promotion to associate, he was hired by the JP Morgan's Proprietary Positioning team in London, an independent business unit that reported directly to JPM's Board of Directors, investing the banks own capital through multi-asset investments. Pedro specialized mainly in risk arbitrage and special situations in Europe. He was promoted to Portfolio Manager at the age of 27, managing at the time $1.2 billion of gross assets.
After registering a significant outperformance in 2007 despite the meltdown in financial markets, Pedro decided to venture on his own and launch Noster Capital in early 2008. An "artisanal" investment manager with offices in London and Malta that provide investors with a high tough service that, given the relative size of the fund, is able to explore investment opportunities across segments of the market that most funds can't. Additionally, this advantage is further supported by an internationally recognized group of individuals who make up Noster's investor committee. Noster Capital's clients include High Net Worth individuals & family offices.
Noster recently launched its second fund, Noster Alpha Constant, with the goal of complementing its first fund, Noster Global Value, with a lower fee, lower touch investment strategy that has delivered 66% return since its inception in October 2019 versus 47.5% of the S&P Total Return as of June 2021 to external investors.
Pedro sits on the board of certified B-Corp Conservatorio, a real estate developer focused on mixed-use, mixed-income projects in Panama, Guatemala, and Honduras with a $500 million pipeline. Conservatorio's model of sustainable urban revitalization has been the subject of case studies by the MIT Center for Real Estate and Oxford University's Said Business School.
