I’m honored to have been nominated for three awards at The Domain Conference, which took place September 10-14, 2016 in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, and to have won Developer of the Year.
I’m also honored that Efty (a company I invested in last year) was nominated for Company of the Year.
Thank you to Howard, Barbara and Ray Neu for their tireless support of the industry, the recognition of excellence in our industry through the annual awards ceremony, and hosting the annual event. The event always feels like I’m coming home to family.
Thank you to everyone who voted for me, DomainSherpa and Efty. All four categories had fantastic nominees, all of whom I have high admiration for. It was an honor to be nominated alongside them.
The 2016 award winners are:
- Domain Name Hall of Fame: Nat Cohen and Gary Chernoff
- Developer of the Year: Michael Cyger (for launching DNAcademy.com and Resolution.club)
- Blogger of the Year: Elliot Silver, DomainInvesting.com
- Registry of the Year: .CLUB
- Registrar of the Year: GoDaddy
- Broker of the Year: Dave Evanson, SEDO
- Domain Investor of the Year: Michael Berkens, TheDomains.com
- Domain Company of the Year: SEDO
- Goodwill Ambassador, 2016: Ron Jackson, DN Journal
I would like to thank all of DomainSherpa’s sponsors. Without them, what we do to educate entrepreneurs and investors around the world wouldn’t be possible: Estibot.com, Escrow.com, David Weslow (legal services), domainIQ.com, Efty.com, DNAcademy.com, and NameJet.com.
If you haven’t visited those sponsors, signed up for an account, tried their services, followed them on Twitter/Facebook, or just sent them an email to say “hello” — please do.
Thanks to all the conference sponsors that made the event possible, including premier sponsor .Club. (If you haven’t heard the .Club story with Colin and Jeff, watch it here.)
It was great to see all my industry friends and catch-up on their lives in person, over meals, in sessions and throughout the event.
See you at Namescon in January,
Michael Cyger

Hi Mike
Congratulations on your award!
You so deserve this, and many other awards — easily, hands down!
I have watched your show since its inception, and applaud you on how you have done an exceptional job in bringing light to this industry, where otherwise it would have been, for the most part, in the dark.
You have been an inspiration, and so compliment the company I keep — which reminds me to further drive myself forward.
Sincerely,
Bradley
Hi Bradley,
You’re kind. :)
I remember you’ve been in the Sherpa Network from the beginning — at least from years ago. I appreciate your support all these years.
Best,
Michael

Thank you, Saro. :)
Congratulations Michael!
A deserving award for all that you do to make domaining a little bit easier of all of us. DNAcademy is absolutely a tool as a standard of practice in the domain industry.
Thank you, Lanny!
“Domain Investor of the Year: Michael Berkens”
I though Michael had quit domaining after selling his portfolio
Good luck to all .
Sort of. He cut back on his blogging at TheDomains and appears to still be buying and selling, but when you sell your portfolio for $35.5 million (http://domainnamewire.com/2016/02/17/did-godaddy-pay-35-5-million-for-michael-berkens-portfolio/), that generally puts you over the top as “investor of the year”. :)
Understood ,
Thanks Michael and good luck ,looking forward to more sherpa’s .
ps
Rick S ,was the best .
Congratulations Michael! Thank you for all you do and congratulations, also, to all of the other winners as well!
