DomainSherpa Review – May 27: CookieClub.com VRAI.com Offices.co.uk

This is the show where we get into the minds of successful domain name investors – people we call Sherpas – and talk about the value of specific domain names. By listening to the Sherpas, we expand our thought process so we can become more successful investors ourselves.

In this DomainSherpa Review:

  • We learn what the Sherpas bought or sold recently: CookieClub.com VRAI.com Offices.co.uk
  • An investor’s portfolio is appraised: DocuFlow.com Fundmo.com CamGirl.com…
  • Get your bids in soon for these NameJet auctions: 24carat.com Naza.com AsiaFest.com…
  • And much more!

We’re joined by three Domain Sherpas: Michael Cyger, Jebidiah Burnett, and Ammar Kubba.

  1. Thanks for the kind words Jebidiah – haven’t been called “hot to trot” for a few years ;-)

  2. Tom says:

This list was certainly better than the usual list people submit on here.

  3. Helmuts says:

Another great review and well spent time watching domain pros – thank you.

    H

  4. Michael says:

Thanks, Ammar, Mike, Jebidiah, and Tess! Your sharing with the domain community is so much appreciated!

  5. Arif / Ategy says:

Thanks for another great informative episode!

I think maybe more people now listen on Tuesdays because the show isn’t up when we check on Mondays.

I used to take little Steamie out for huge walks at 3am (Eastern) because Mike always had the show scheduled to go up at exactly midnight (Pacific time). With WordPress (which i’m pretty sure you’re still using), you can set everything up ahead of time and simply schedule publication for a specific date/time.

When I post my daily lists at NameCult, I wait until the last minute for the expired auction domain list to have the number of bids up to date. But since I don’t need to do that for the closeouts, I usually prepare that list the night before and schedule it for 10am (Eastern). Having it done early really reduces the stress of trying to have it up at exactly the same time every day (particularly when I want to sleep in after 10am .. lol)

FYI .. Nazi is the same in French as it is in English .. and I didn’t make the association from Naza in either language until it was mentioned.

From what I’ve found, French domains aren’t excessively valuable when compared to their English counterparts (I have a few very strong ones). So while “Vrai” (True) is indeed a very strong word, I actually saw more value in the domain when considering V.R. + A.I. (even if those two tech terms don’t naturally match together). $95k definitely was a great sale considering it was an English language based company who actually bought it and how their brand will relate to the domain.

I’m curious what the Sherpas would have thought a good price for “True.com” would have been?

    Thanks again!

  6. John Gleeson says:

User submitted portfolio was the best one ever in the history of the show and YOU GUYS over looked it completely. Many of the names were bang on trend and all had some association to a product, service or business which means there will be interested parties. If they’re hand registered, it’s a good portfolio. Also, Ammar, I’m selling BetCalifornia.com but you’re not having it for under $xx,xxx!! Good luck, really enjoyed the show
